An overview of the finance module
Last updated on 14.07.2026
The Finance section gives your organisation an overview of income and expenditure – from bank transactions right through to analysis by project and purpose.
The modules
| Sub-section | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Overview | Key figures and trends at a glance |
| Bank accounts | Your organisation’s accounts |
| Account imports | Import transactions from online banking |
| Review transactions | Review and allocate imported transactions |
| Projects / Purposes | Categories for analysis |
The typical workflow
- Import: Transactions are regularly exported from online banking and imported into Komma.
- Review and allocate: Each transaction is reviewed and assigned to a project or purpose – see Checking transactions.
- Analysing: The overview shows how donations and expenditure are developing – both overall and per project.
Who can view the finances?
Financial data is sensitive. This section is therefore only visible to users with explicit financial authorisation – everyone else does not even see it in the navigation menu. Authorisations are granted by the administrator (see Users and authorisations).
What the finance module is not
Komma is not a replacement for accounting software or tax advice. It is a tool for keeping track of day-to-day matters: Where do we stand? How are donations developing? Which project is self-sustaining?
