Backups and data security

A system to which an organisation entrusts its contacts, communications and finances must be able to cope with system failures. That is why Komma automatically backs up your data using a multi-tiered approach.

Automatic Backups

Komma creates regular backups at various intervals:

  • Daily – for quick access to the previous day’s data
  • Weekly – as a medium-term backup
  • Monthly – as a long-term snapshot

This staggered approach means that, in the event of an emergency, you can restore data to a suitable point in time – from ‘last night’ right back to several weeks ago.

What is backed up

The backups cover your organisation’s database – contacts, emails, campaigns, appointments, finances – as well as uploaded files.

What you can do yourself

Even with a good backup, the rule remains: prevention is better than recovery.

  • Delete with care: Deleted data is initially gone from the live system; a restore from the backup always affects an entire data state, not a single data record.
  • Use exports sparingly: Every export (e.g. as a CSV file) creates a copy outside the backed-up system – do not store such files permanently.

In an emergency

If data has been accidentally lost: Act quickly and contact support with as much detail as possible (what is missing, since when, what happened). The sooner we know, the closer the recoverable state will be to the time of loss.
