Dates and calendar

For most organisations, events are the most important content: church services, rehearsals, celebrations, meetings. In Komma, you manage them all in one place – and they appear wherever they’re needed.
Creating events
You create events in the portal by entering a title, date, time, venue and description. Categories help to distinguish between different types of events (e.g. by venue or event type).
Where events appear
- On your organisation’s website – the public events calendar is fed directly from Komma.
- In the newsletter – events can be imported into newsletters without having to type them out.
- In your calendar programme – via CalDAV synchronisation (see below).
Calendar synchronisation (CalDAV)
Komma supports the open standard CalDAV. This allows you to subscribe to your organisation’s calendar in Apple Calendar, Thunderbird and other programmes – events appear there automatically and remain up to date. The reverse is also possible: events created in Komma appear in the linked calendar.
You can obtain the login details for synchronisation from your organisation’s administrator.
Best practice
- Create events early, even if details are still missing – you can always add them later.
- Consistent titles (“Church service”, not sometimes “CS” and sometimes “Church service Konstanz”) keep the calendar easy to read.
- Don’t delete cancellations; instead, mark them in the title – this way, visitors can see that the event has been deliberately cancelled.
